The Bono East Regional Elections Officer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Paul Yaw Kumah, has cautioned that unity, harmony and hard work are the best strategic ways to recapture lost parliamentary seats in Election 2024.
He noted that the leadership and the rank and file of the party must also work in peace and in cohesion and not be complacent to achieve the feat to enable the party retain power in the next general election.
Mr Kumah, who is also the NPP’s Regional Research Officer, indicated that “it can also be a bridge to create access in breaking the eight-year political party governance in the nation’s Fourth Republic however, we must endeavour to unite and bury our differences in the current internal elections because if achieved, it will strengthen us in all fronts to attain the grand agenda.
He cautioned at Techiman, after the vetting processes of candidates contesting for positions in the upcoming regional executives election slated for May 27-29, and disclosed that 23 applicants were cleared by the regional vetting committee in which three were vying for the Chairmanship position, two for the First Vice Chairman, three for the Second Vice Chairman, while two were contesting the Secretary position.
The rest were Assistant Secretary, three, Women Organiser, three, Youth Organiser, two, Regional Organiser, two, Nasara Coordinator, whilst Madam Martha Boahemaa, the incumbent Treasurer, was unopposed.
According to Mr Kumah, it was not going to be easy to break the eight-year rule agenda since the party’s political opponents were also poised in returning to power and appealed to the incoming regional executives to peacefully co-exist with those who would lose to form a formidable team to recapture lost parliamentary seats and retain power.
“Breaking the eight and recapturing lost parliamentary seats are herculean tasks which are surmountable but need focus, harder work, unifying force, harmony, cohesion and strategic plan so as members, supporters, sympathisers, well-wishers and faithful of the party we need a formidable team to achieve the agenda,” he stressed. –GNA
