Black Bombers captain, Sulemana Tetteh failed to progress in boxing at the Olympic Games
when he lost his second fight to exit the Games.
He becomes the second boxer to bow out after Shakul Samed lost his first outing, leaving Ghana’s medal hopes in boxing on Samuel Taky who advanced to the semi final zone last week.
Tetteh succumbed to Cuba’s Veitia Josbany after three grueling rounds at the Kokugikan Arena on Saturday.
As the first Ghanaian athlete to begin Ghana’s campaign at the Games, Tetteh had high hopes to overcome the taller Cuban to advance to the next stage of the competition.
He adopted a quick and aggressive strategy which the Cuban countered beautifully with his fast movement and regular jabs to win all three rounds on the scorecards to progress to the quarter finals stage.
Josbany would now face Yafai Galal of Great Britain tomorrow.
