The Teshie Traditional Council has called for a total revamp of operations of the Lands Commission to help reduce land litigation in the country.
The move, the Council believes, would bring sanity in the land tenure system and enhance proper documentation and development.
Elders of the Council argued that the way and manner the Land Title Unit operates was a major cause of most land litigation cases, especially in the Ga State.
Addressing a press conference in Accra, the Teshie Traditional Council Secretary, Paul AkporSowah, said that no official of the unit should be engaged in the sale of land without recourse to owners or custodians of land.
He urged the groups and individual developers to as a matter of urgency engage the Teshie Traditional Council for proper negotiations and documentation of land, to avert litigation.
MrSowah appealed to government and the Judicial Service to fast track land cases to avoid double sale of land.
He said as a result of the undue delay of land cases in the various courts, some members of the public were losing confidence in the ability of the courts to deal decisively with wrongdoers to bring law and order in the land tenure system.
