Shakul apologises for loss

Defeated Black Bomber, Shakul Samed has apologised to Ghanaians for his disappointing performance in the ongoing Tokyo 2020 Olympics Games in Tokyo.

Shakul suffered exited the Games on Wednesday after suffering a second round Technical Knockout in the hands of Turkey’s Bayram Malkan in their light heavyweight bout.

In a video he posted on Social Media, the boxer expressed disappointment over the performance and hoped that his colleagues will make up for his loss.

“I am sorry for not making it to the quarter finals stage after drawing a bye at the round of 32. I apologise to my fans and the entire country for not advancing to the next stage. We hoped for a better result which I failed to get.”

Shakul, however, urged Ghanaians to support his teammates and other Ghanaian athletes who would take over the mantle and make the nation proud.

“A win for Samuel Takyi and Captain Sulemana Tetteh is a win for all of us; I will pray and support them fully to make the name for Ghana” he expressed.

He praised Coach Ofori Asare for his efforts in making them Olympians and popular boxers in the world.

For coach Asare, the team would not give up on their ambitions of winning a medal despite the upset suffered by Shakul.

“We still have two good boxers in the competition so we are working hard to make a mark,” he stated.

Sulemana and Takyi would face Cuban and Columbian opponents, respectively in their next fights.

“We are ready and will go all out to ensure we bring a medal home,” he stressed.
