A grand durbar was held on Saturday in Hohoe to welcome a 42-year-old Senior Investment Officer of Ghana Integrated Iron and Steel Development Corporation as the new Paramount Chief of Gbi Traditional Area.

Mr. Seth Kodzo Agbesinyale was introduced by the kingmakers of the Gbi Traditional Council as the new Togbega Gabusu VII, who succeeds his late uncle, Togbega Gabusu VI, whose royal transition was held from December 7–12, 2021 to join his ancestors.

The event was graced by scores of dignitaries, including the Hohoe Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Noble Awume.

Togbe Keh XII, Divisional Chief of Gbi Wegbe and left wing chief of Gbi Traditional Area, explained that having successfully gone through the traditional rites the way was paved for a search, nomination, outdooring and enstoolment of a successor.

With God’s guidance and that of the ancestors, the lot fell on Mr. Seth Kodzo Agbesinyale.

As part of the enstoolment rites, Mr. Agbesinyale was confined on Saturday, June 4, 2022, and after the rites for seven days, as per the Gbi customs, he was outdoored as Togbega Gabusu VII, chief of Torkoni Clan and paramount chief of Gbi Traditional Area.

TogbeKeh XII, therefore, called on the people of Gbi Traditional Area to unite and put their support behind the newly appointed paramount chief.

He also advised Togbega Gabusu VII to seek counsel from his elders for him to succeed.

Togbega Gabusu VII speaking during his outdooring and acceptance speech, thanked the kingmakers for giving him the chance to lead the people of Gbi.

He assured them that he would not let them down and hope to work with all to bring development to the area.

He said their collective resolve was that unity was what could bind them, and therefore called on the people to desist from acts that would undermine development.

“The name ‘Gabusu’ puts a great responsibility on him and he will need the support of all to succeed,” he stressed.
