On Friday, 17th November 2023, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo commissioned into Ghana Armed Forces, two hundred and ninety-two (292) cadets, including two (2) allied cadets, the highest in the history of the Ghana Armed Forces.
The commissioning of such a large number of officers into the Armed Forces, at this time when resources are limited, is to put Ghana in readiness for the emerging security threats the country is facing today, the President said.
He indicated that “The security situation in West Africa, particularly in the Sahel, requires that we improve the entire security architecture of the country.”
To that end, he said, the government is resolute on the need to institute measures that will safeguard the territorial integrity and security of our nation, so as to guarantee the peace Ghana continuously enjoys in the Region.
“The Armed Forces, whose responsibility is to safeguard the territorial integrity of the country, is proportionally spread across the country, maintaining continuous surveillance and capability in readiness to respond effectively to any threat from anywhere to the security of Ghana.” he said.
