Prioritize developing national teams instead of business – Osei Kofi tells GFA.

Must Read

Asante Kotoko legend Rev. Osei Kofi has called on the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to focus on enhancing the Ghana Premier League (GPL) and developing the country’s national teams.

This call follows recent underwhelming performances by the senior national team, the Black Stars.

In an interview with Graphic Sports, Rev. Kofi expressed concern over the state of the Black Stars, describing the team as “lifeless.”

He emphasized that prioritizing the growth of the local league and nurturing various national teams is essential for the future of Ghanaian football, rather than merely focusing on the business side.

“The Black Stars seem lifeless to me,” he told Graphic Sports.

“Just as only those who have attended law school can practice law, the same principle should apply to football administration.

Rev. Kofi criticized current GFA leadership, noting that their focus on commercial interests overshadows crucial developmental efforts for the GPL and other programs.

“Ironically, those currently in charge of our football don’t have a deep understanding of the game; they prioritise the business aspects instead and forget about the GPL and other developmental projects,” he added.
