The Ghana Police Service has arrested a taxi driver for allegedly confessing to killing several persons for ritual purposes.
The taxi driver, Felix Ansah, 35, was arrested after he granted an interview to Accra-based Onua TV earlier this month saying he had killed some people for rituals.
A statement signed and issued in Accra yesterday by the Acting Director-General, Public Affairs Directorate of the Ghana Police Service, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Kwesi Ofori, said, he was arrested to assist in police investigations.
The statement said the police would seek the court to remand him for thorough investigations.
“Following his admission of the alleged commission of such acts, he was arrested to assist police investigations,” the police said in a statement on Sunday. He will be put before court on Monday, September 13, 2021, to be placed on remand for thorough investigations into the allegations to continue,” it stated.
The statement noted that the police would communicate further updates duly.
Reports about killings of humans for ritual purposes has dominated Ghana’s media space within the year.
More worryingly had been the involvement of children in the act.
In April, 10-year-old Ishmael Mensah was killed by two teenage friends at Kasoa in the Central Region for money ritual purposes.
