A 36-year-old pastor was on Wednesday jailed eight years in hard labour for defiling a 15-year-old Junior High School (JHS) girl, by the Circuit Court at Krobo, in the Eastern Region.
Nii Kwartei, convict, lured the victim into a guest house at Manaam, a suburb of Odumase-Krobo and defiled her.
Police Chief Inspector Peter Azigi, told the court presided over by Mr Frank Gbeddy, that the complainant, a 36-year-old petty trader, lived with her children at Nuaso, a suburb of Odumase-Krobo.
Prosecution said that Nii Kwartei lived in the same vicinity as the complainant and her children.
Insp Azigi said the victim visited Nii Kwartei at his home and he (pastor) asked the victim to accompany him to the market.
Prosecution said on their way to the market, the pastor convinced the girl to accompany him to the guest house, where he forcefully had sexual intercourse with her.
The court heard that Nii Kwartei gave the girl GH¢ 20, and when she went home,
the mother asked her (girl) where was coming from, and the girl narrated her ordeal to the complainant.
Insp Azigi said complaint reported the case at the Odumase-Krobo Police, and she (complainant) was given medical report forms to the complainant to take the victim to hospital for medical examination and endorsement.
Nii Kwartei was arrested, arraigned and convicted on his own plea of guilt. -peacefmonline.com
