The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Pacific Oil Limited, Alhaji Ibrahim Zakari, has presented two Toyota Hilux pickup vehicles worth GH¢566,332 to the Ghana Police Service(GPS) to augment their fleet in Accra yesterday.
AlhajiZakari who is also the Chairman of the company in making the presentation said it was part of the company’s corporate social responsibility to give back to the society where they operated.
He pointed out the need to support the Police Service in crime combat in the country, saying “the Police Service should be supported to ensure the safety of the citizenry and that business people go about their duties without fear.”
AlhajiZakari commended the personnel of the Service for their dedication in protecting lives and properties, even at the peril of their lives.
He called on the public to partner the GPS and other security agencies in clamping down on crimes in the society.
The Chairman assured the Police Service of the Company’s continuous support to help them achieve their mandate in the country.
He said the company through the Pacific Foundation Ghana, had over the years made donations, including presentation to the vulnerable in society, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr George AkuffoDampare, who received the donation on behalf of the service said the vehicles would help augment the fleet of the service and ensure effective patrols in the communities.
DrDampare said the government alone could not provide all the logistics of the Service, but needed support from organisations and philanthropists, adding “all have to get involved to support Government in ensuring security in the country.’’
He assured the management of the oil company that the vehicles would be maintained and commendedAlhajiZakari for the kind gesture and stated that it would augment the fleet of the service.
He assured of the Police Service’ continuous efforts to protect precious lives and properties in the country.
Some of the members of the Police Management Board (POMAB) present were Commissioner of Police (COP) George Alex Mensah, Director General (DG) of Technical; COP Fredrick Adu-Anim, DG Human Resource; COP Patrick Akologo, National Protection Department and Deputy Commissioner of Police Francis AboagyeNyarko- DG Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD).
