Moroccan referee RedouaneJiyed has been appointed to handle the first leg of the 2022 World Cup play-off tie involving Ghana and Nigeria.
Jiyed was in charge when Ghana hosted and beat Ethiopia 1-0 in the World Cup qualifications at the same venue in September last year.
The 42-year-old match official took charge of the third place play-off game between Burkina Faso and Cameroon at the StadeAhmadouAhidjo in Yaounde at the 2021 AFCON.
The second leg of the crucial tie will be officiated by Tunisian referee SadokSelmi.
Selmi has been very active in the 2021-22 season having been present at the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon where he handled two group stage games.
He was in charge when Morocco beat Comoros 2-0 and also when Cape Verde drew 1-1 against host country Cameroon all in Yaoundé.
Selmi recently took control of the CAF Champions’ League group stage match when Wydad AC came from behind to beat Zamalek SC 3-1 in Casablanca. -Ghanasoccernet
