GNA – Nemont Ghana, Akyem Mines, has donated an incubator worth GH¢28,000.00 to the Holy Family Hospital at Nkawkaw in the Kwahu West Municipality of Eastern Region.

The gesture was in response to a request made by the hospital for an additional incubator to support preterm babies.

Mr Derek Boateng, Senior Manager, Sustainability and External Relations (S&ER) of the company, who handed over the incubator to the facility expressed the hope that it would go a long way to prevent infant deaths that occured largely due to inadequate incubators in the hospital.

The latest assistance is one of the numerous assistance the company had given to the hospital to help promote healthcare delivery.

He said Newmont had provided medical equipment, consumables and other supplies worth $250,000 to the hospital to enable them to provide quality health service to the people around the area.

The facility serves a wide geographical area that extends to the Abirim North District and therefore needs enormous support for improved service delivery.

Mr Boateng noted that the health and well-being of the people in Newmont’s catchment area had been their priority and that the company was committed to making a positive impact in the communities.

“I am optimistic that this incubator would help save many lives and significantly reduce neonatal deaths in this area”, he added.

Dr Adu Antwi, Medical Superintendent of the Hospital, received the incubator and expressed gratitude for the offer and was hopeful the incubator would go a long way to improve healthcare delivery and reduce infant mortality associated with premature births.

He promised to ensure its frequent maintenance and longevity.
