The Member of Parliament (MP) for Tema West Constituency in the Greater Accra Region,Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah, has underlined the commitment, dedication and determination of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to work harder for victory in the 2024 general election.
He explained that the party was not going to be complacent and that they would work with zeal, focus, steadfast, peace, harmony and unity of purpose to break the eight-year political party jinx, the situation where none of the political parties had held on to political power beyond eight years running.
Mr Ahenkorah, who was a former Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, expressed optimism that the electorates would return the party to government to continue its pro-poor policies, programmes and social interventions to ameliorate the plight of the citizenry.
Speaking at a programme in Tema, he noted that the government’s signature social interventions had and continued to impact the lives of many people in the country and they would want the life-changing interventions to be sustained since change of government would inflict hardships on Ghanaians.
“These policies, programmes and interventions must be protected, and any change of government will put them in jeopardy to inflict hardships on us in reference to the free Senior High School policy and Planting for Food and Jobs programme among others whose benefits have been tremendous and you can attest to that.
“It is the responsibility of every citizen to protect the state, a working political party whose governance architecture is in the interest of the nation must be allowed to continue after two terms even when there is the change of its presidential candidate because the economy was doing well until COVID-19 pandemic struck and everything was being done to get the economy back on track and working again,” Mr Ahenkorah intimated. -GNA
