MBDA undertakes 15 projects in Bono Region

The Middle Belt Development Authority (MBDA) has initiated 15 infrastructural development projects in the Bono Region.

The projects, being constructed under the ‘One million dollar per constituency’ initiative, include health, education and water and sanitation facilities dotted across the region.

For instance, the sanitation facilities are being constructed to end open defaecation in selected communities.

So far, 10 of the projects have been completed and handed over to beneficiary communities for use while the rest are at various stages of completion.

The Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of the MBDA, Mr Joe Dankwa, during inauguration and inspection tour on Monday and Tuesday, indicated that the projects were carried out based on the needs assessment of the beneficiary communities. 

According to him, the government was delivering on its promise of providing the infrastructure needs of the people.

He said the MBDA, currently operating in 109 constituencies in its assigned five regions, was constructing similar projects in the other regions in response to the sustainable Development Goals stipulated by the United Nations.

He commended some of the contractors for working on time and appealed to the rest to expedite action on their projects to enable the MBDA to hand them over to the beneficiary communities.

At Sampa in the Jaman North municipality, Mr Dankwa inaugurated a six-unit classroom block built at the cost of GHc 425,000 for the Sampa Presbyterian Primary School.

The headmistress, Gloria Sassah, thanked the MBDA for coming to their aid and appealed for furniture for the school.

The CEO later inspected work on a GHc1,000,000Community-based Health Planning and Service (CHPS) compound being built at Ponkor.

AtGoka and Asiri, a 64-shelf market centre  witha health centre was inaugurated .

In the Wenchi municipality, similar projects were inaugurated and handled over to such beneficiary communities asTromiso, Amponsakrom,  andAbotareye.
