Man allegedly stabbed his 26-year-old wife to death, for threatening to divorce him, at Degede, a suburb of Bibiani, in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region.
The suspect, identified as Emmanuel Okyere Baffour, was said to have committed the crime in the room of Joyce Johnes Afi Jassika, the wife.
The Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Divisional Crime Officer, Superintendent (Sup.) Seth Serwonu, who confirmed the story, told the Ghana News Agency that relatives of Jassika reported the death to the police.
He said when the police proceeded to the crime scene, they found Jassika in a pool of blood with multiple ‘stab’ wounds, adding that the body has been deposited at the Bibiani Government Hospital mortuary for autopsy.
Sup. Serwonu said preliminary investigation revealed that Jassika threatened to divorce the husband due to numerous problems, and he (husband) promised to turn a new leaf, but the woman left for her parents’ house.
He said last Thursday, Baffour went to the house when the parents of the wife were absent, allegedly attack, stabbed Jassika to death and covered the body with clothes and absconded. – GNA
