Must Read

The Street Academy at the weekend organised a series of fun games that brought together more than 400 children.

The games, which included football, coincided with donation of food provisions like bags of rice, Milo and cooking oil, as well as other necessities in the form of toiletries, stationery and PPEs by Malay Support Network, an NGO.

In absence of the Academy’s annual health walk that comes on every July, the fun games lasted for more than four hours.

A development consultant, Madam Lea Mennella, who was the guest of honour at the event, was very excited to join the Academy’s programme for the first time, lauding the initiative.

“It is not easy to put children together and at the same time put smiles on their faces and it’s more important to get children around for socialising,” she said, and also reiterated on the importance of education.

For his part, the Director of the Street Academy, Ataa Lartey, said the Covid-19 pandemic had impacted negatively on education, sports, health and businesses across the globe.

“The pandemic has been a major obstacle to donors and as a result imposed serious financial challenge on the Academy,” he said, calling on corporate institutions and individuals to come to their aid.
