IPR-Ghana to hold national PR, communication summit

The Institute of Public Relations Ghana (IPR-Ghana) will hold its annual National PR and Communication Summit to learn new innovative practices and deliberate on issues pertinent to the profession and the institute.

The three-day event which would be held from January 19 to 22, would be on the theme; “Truth Well Told and Shared,”will serve as a platform for communication professionals to network.

A press statement issued in Accra yesterday and signed by the honorary secretary, Madam Shirley Tony Kum, copied to the Ghanaian Times, the president of the institute, Mr MawukoAfadzinu said the summit would also be a forum for sharing ideas in a fast changing and constantly evolving sector like the communication industry.

“The communication industry is a very dynamic one and it is critical for professionals within the field to meet and share ideas in confronting the changes that are constantly occurring all around us,” the statement noted.

“At the IPR national summit, we meet as members of this noble professional association to take stock of the past year, evaluate our performance as an industry and strategise for the year ahead.

I look forward to this year’s summit because there is a lot to unpack and learn based on how rapidly the communication profession is changing the world over,” the statement read.

The summit will begin with a two-hour cruise on the Volta Lake to the Dodi Islandon January 19. Activities on the cruise will include an interactive session with seasoned social media influencers on the topic “PR in the digital age,” as well as a live band, karaoke session, and some indoor games.

The summit will be chaired by Reverend Dr. Joyce Rosalind Aryee, a Fellow of the Institute, to be followed by a keynote address, a panel discussion and an induction ceremony for successful candidates of 2021 accreditation examination, it stated.

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) would be held on the last day of the event to afford the Executive Council the opportunity to account for their stewardship over the past year, the statement said.

The climax of the summit will be a Presidential Ball and PR Communications Excellence Awards to celebrate distinguished members and institutions who have excelled in the field of Public Relations and Communications, the statement said.
