A total of 1,049 students of Ho Technical University in the Volta Region, were at the weekend presented with first degrees and higher national diplomas.
They received their first degrees and higher national diplomas at a ceremony, at Ho, following the completion of various technical courses.
Out of the number, two students had first class with Bachelor in Technology (B-Tech) while 244 had first class in the Higher National Diploma division.
The Chief Executive Officer for KAMA Group of Companies Limited, Nana Dr Agyekum Addo, advocated that entrepreneurial skills be made core subject for students at the tertiary institutions, to make them self-innovative to be able to create their own businesses.
According to him, courses pursued at technical universities were relevant, to turn the fortunes of the country, if properly strategised.
Dr Addo said Ghana and the African Continent needed to embark on entrepreneurial revolution to make them self-sufficient and create jobs for the youth.
“The era of industrial and civil revolutions is over, some nations became rich but day by day those known countries are being taken over by young countries.”
Dr Addo advised the graduands to create their own jobs and, and entreated them “to continue reading to discover more when you enter the world.”
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Ben Hoenyenuga, noted that in spite of the adverse effect of COVID-19, the educational institution had made academic progress.
He said the university apart from running HND programmes, was also pursuing a Four- year B-Technology in 15 programmes.
The Vice Chancellor appealed to the government to complete uncompleted projects at the campus to enhance enrollment.
The Chairman of the Governing Council of the university, Professor Emmanuel James Flolu, commended the teaching and non-teaching staff of the university for their contribution to the development of education.
He urged the graduands to be proud of their achievements and “go out as ambassadors of the university.”
