Hearts players to undergo H3N2 test today

Players and officials of Accra Hearts of Oak will today undergo testing to ascertain their readiness to return to training following the outbreak of Influenza A subtype H3N2 among some players of the first team.

That led to a Ghana Health Service (GHS) investigations which preliminary findings indicated the outbreak of Influenza A subtype H3N2 among the players.

Hearts confirmed the receipt of the letter to Times Sports, yesterday with the club’s Communication Director, Kwame OpareAddo stating that the club has followed directive by the GHS to the letter.

He said the club was liaising with the GHS for the appropriate prevention and control measures for the Influenza A subtype H3N2.

He disclosed that the test will be conducted at the Greater Accra Regional Health Directorate of the Ghana Health Service to ascertain the level of recovery.

According to him, if they are cleared, the team will return to training tomorrow ahead of the return to Premier League action.

“I can confirm that all the players and officials are recovering but will need to take the test to know the next step.”

Mr OpareAddo says the team was given a seven-day break from football activities, a period that expires on Friday.

When contacted, the GFA Communication Director, Henry Asante Twum said there is no decision yet on when Hearts will return to league action.

“We are in constant touch with the GHS on the matter, the GFA cannot act in isolation in such matters.”
