Ginni Saraswati Went from Being Terrified of a Mic to Owning the Airwaves

Must Read

Award-winning journalist and podcast sensation Ginni Saraswati has traveled a long way in a short period of time. And we are not just talking about her Frequent Flyer Miles. Born in tropical Sri Lanka, raised in Australia and now living in New York City, Saraswati has become one of the world’s entertainment and podcasting powerhouses after starting out as shy to speak and being terrified behind a mic.

Saraswati works with a series of iconic clientele including Allure, Siemens and Architectural Digest through her leading podcast production house, Ginni Media. Comprised of a 100% remote team from over 15 countries, this powerhouse team is led by a remarkable woman who went from a shy girl and the only gay in her village to a multimedia juggernaut. Here are the four things you need to keep your dreams on track.

Remember the two P’s: Patience and Perspective

When Ginni Saraswati first visited New York, she fell in love with the city immediately. The mix of energy, art, culture, and creativity prompted her to accept the challenge of combining her two loves: radio and tech. The answer was podcasting, which set Ginni on her career path by discovering a way to turn her passions into a job opportunity. She first got into radio in 2007, first visited New York in 2011 and in 2018 started Ginni Media. This dream took a time span of 11 years to come into fruition. Each day, she keeps working away patiently and not losing sight of the bigger picture.

Work on your Own Self Awareness

A proud and outspoken member of the LGBTQ community, Ginni does not shy away from doing press for her demographic. In fact, she has been lauded for her work and received numerous prestigious awards for it including a nomination from the Australian LGBTI Awards. Her authenticity is unmistakable, as is her trademark is finding humor to light even the most difficult of situations. By being true to herself, Ginni has found impressive success. Rather than running from who she is, she has genuinely embraced this remarkable person. She is extremely self-aware and continually invests in resources to keep her aware of herself.

Find Your Boldest Cheerleaders

When you surround yourself with a supportive community, you open the door to a world of support, encouragement and opportunities. Ginni credits the encouragement of others to be the push she needed to truly find and use her voice. Knowing you have a tribe to cheer your successes, listen to your concerns and shine perspective on your blind spots paves the way for you to be accountable to your dreams. It’s these influences that steer you. Today, she finds additional support and purpose in her many listeners. She also realized that as we learn and grow, our voices change along the unpredictable journey we call life.

Gratitude is the Attitude
Saraswati believes that success, gratitude and joy go hand in hand. “Gratitude and Joy isn’t something you can take a photo of and post on Instagram. It’s all internal. Gratitude anchors presence and perspective.” She practices gratitude daily and believes it to be a cornerstone for her success. “My path to success is creating what works for me. This is to have the freedom to design my day, week, month and year. I get to work with a team of exceptionally talented individuals and spend my time intentionally, joyfully, creatively and most importantly – exactly how I want to.”
