In 2016, the late Queen left Ghana for the USA for personal reasons and returned to a grand reception by a high-powered delegation on April 14, 2021, led by Nii Adote Otintor II, the then Acting President of the Ga Traditional Council, amongst other dignitaries.
In thanking everyone for their support, the late Queen reiterated her love for peace for all Ghanaians.
Before her demise, she had previously stated that her fervent prayer was to arrive home safely before passing on to eternity.
“I am happy to have come home to meet people from both NPP and NDC, that is what I like to see so when I am called to rest by the Almighty, I would be carried around the world for everyone to see that I played my part,” she had said.
Naa Omaedru III served for more than half a century since 1963 at the age of 29. She was the longest serving queen for the state and her achievements during her reign were outstanding as she selflessly devoted her life to public and voluntary service.
She championed important issues critical to peace, education and opportunities for young people especially the girl child.
Naa Omaedru III sought the welfare of the girl child and women so as to safeguard their future, by setting a remarkable example of leadership to the queen mothers in the State.
She stood for peace and promoted unity not only for the state but for all Ghanaians. She advocated a united approach to meaningful development for her people.
Present at the press briefing were the Sempe Mantse, Nii Adote Otintor II, the Mayor of Accra, Mrs Elizabeth Sackey, amongst other chiefs from the Ga Traditional Council.
