The Minister of Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, says government was working very hard to ensure the eradication of the annual examination malpractice in the country.
According to him, the ministry currently was in collaboration with the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) and other stakeholders to put in place measures to curb the practice through serialisation and digitisation which leads to the setting of ten different versions of the same examination making it extremely difficult to cheat.
Dr Adutwum disclosed this to the media after a tour of some selected West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) centres in Accra.
Some of the centres visited were the Frafraha Community Senior High School (SHS), West African SHS and the Kwabenya SHS.
The Education Minister recounted some people out of the crave for more set up rogue websites to sell fake WAEC questions to unsuspecting students who out of ignorance patronise such sites after which their monies are collected or distorted by the site operators.
He was upbeat that, with the measures being put in place it would be very risky patronising such websites.
At the Frafraha Community SHS, the Minister was able to interact with some candidates before they started their English II examination.
He urged the candidates to remain focused and be disciplined as they continued to write the examination, so they do not have any challenge with the laws of the land.
Dr Adutwum also urged them to be confident and avoid any act that will affect the sanctity of the examination.
In a related development, the two Deputy Ministers of Education, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour and Mrs Gifty Twum Ampofo also visited some selected examination centers in the Eastern Region.
Whereas Rev Ntim Fordjour visited Mount Sinai SHS, Mamfe Methodist Girls SHS, Mampong Secondary Technical for the Deaf, Mampong Presbyterian SHS and Aburi Girls SHS, Mrs Gifty Twum Ampofo on her part went to Saviour SHS, AME Zion SHS all at Kukurantumi.
