The Rotary Club of Tarkwa in the Western Region has given out 900 pieces of nose masks to New Atuabo Health centre, New Atuabo market and transport operators at the Tarkwa bus terminal.
The gesture was to help contain the spread of COVID-19 in Tarkwa and its environs.
Presenting the items, Madam Erica Akidam, the Rotarian President of Tarkwa expressed worry about the high number of cases in the Municipality.
She said the club was monitoring COVID-19 cases in the Municipality closely and decided to support to curb the spread of the disease and save lives.
Madam Akidam used the opportunity to educate the populace on the correct way of wearing the nose masks.
She said Rotary Club was an international organization that provided humanitarian services to individuals in their communities and the world at large.
She encouraged residents in the Municipality to join the group so they could help support the needy and vulnerable in society.
Mr Evans Whajah, the Municipal Health Promotion Officer for Tarkwa-Nsuaem, urged the citizenry to observe the health and safety directives on COVID-19 at all times.
Mrs Linda Opoku, the Physician Assistant at New Health centre, expressed her profound appreciation to members of the club for the assistance.
