A Circuit Court at Dormaa-Ahenkro in the Dormaa Central Municipality of the Bono Region, has remanded two chainsaw operators, in police custody.
Yaw Atiso, 21, and Sule Mammud, 23, are to reappear on Thursday, September 1 this year.
Atiso and Mammud, were charged on two counts of conspiracy to commit crime and subjecting forest produce to any manufacturing process without authority.
Detective Chief Inspector (Chief Inspt), Timothy Ahiaduvor said accused, reside in Nkrankwanta, the Dormaa West District capital.
Prosecution told the Court presided over by Mr Samuel Djanie Kotey, that complainant is a Range Supervisor of Dormaa District Forestry Services Division (FSD).
Chief Insp said at about 11:30 PM on Monday, while the complainant and a military patrol team were on their usual patrol at Mpameso Forest Reserve at compartment 132, a concession belonging to Messrs Telmark Timber Company Limited, they saw accused illegally sawing two trees, Wawa and Oduminto lumbers.
Inspt Ahiaduvor said they were arrested and their two chainsaw machines seized and brought to the Dormaa-Ahenkro Police Station where complaint was lodged against them. – GNA
