The Reverend Chief Superintendent of Prisons George Akuamoah-Boateng (rtd), Ho East Presbytery Moderator of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana (EPCG) has advised Christians to exhibit patience, tolerance and self control as they wait for the day of the Lord.
He said the virtues would enable them to be steadfast when they face trials, persecution, and temptations.
Rev. CSP Akuamoah-Boateng gave the advice in a Homily at a send off service for Rev. Frank Kwame Anku, a former Synod Clerk of the Church at the Kekeli Congregation, SSNIT Flats Ho.
The Homily, which was taken from Joshua 24: 1 – 3, 14 – 25, I Thessalonians 4: 13 – 18 and Matthew 25: 1 – 13, was on the theme “prepare for the day of the Lord.”
Rev. CSP Akuamoah-Boateng also called on Christians to renew their covenant with God daily to enable them withstood the desires of the flesh and the world.
He said for Christians to be wise like the five wise virgins, they should always meditate on the word of God and prayer as part of their daily activities and depend on the Holy Spirit instead of relying on others for spiritual empowerment.
The Synod Moderator encouraged them to be steadfast as they waited for the day of the Lord.
Rev. Anku who was ordained minister of the church in 1986 served in many capacities including Synod Clerk from 2001 to 2008, and SSNIT Flats District Pastor from 2013 to 2015.
He also lectured at the church’s University College in Ho and retired in 2022 as Vice Principal of the church’s Seminary at Peki.
He was presented with an undisclosed amount of money by the church and donations from individual members of the Church.
