Nana Afari Mintah, the Chief of Chiraa Traditional Area in the Sunyani West District of the Bono Region, has reiterated that the country can only be “fixed” if the citizenry united to play their respective roles.

He stated that the fix the country advocates, who recently demonstrated should realise governance was not for a single person or few people to undertake but a collective responsibility.

“It is for all of us to contribute our quota in developing our country, let us all, in unity, peace, support and assist the president in discharging his vision to develop the country,” Nana Mintah noted and cited acts which were detrimental to growth and development of the nation.

“If you want to fix Ghana and you are into illegal mining, our water bodies have been polluted through illegal mining how do we fix country with such attitude?” he queried and quizzed “Can the country be fixed with the attitude of degrading forests, natural environment and refusing to pay taxes.

“Our forest reserves, left for us by our forefathers, forests which belong to the state, you enter them, fell and degrade trees, how do you fix it? Pay taxes, you do not pay by evading, how can the country be fixed when people go to work late and refuse to work but if we all unite and listen to the President and do what we are supposed to, Ghana will develop,” Nana Mintah postulated.

He indicated that the ‘year of roads’ was not a fluke because road networks unattended to for years, regimes had come and gone but had never witnessed upgrading and constructed and expressed gratitude to the President for various infrastructural projects and other interventions in Chiraa.

Nana Mintah also lauded the government for implementing pro-poor policies like Free Senior High School, Planting for Food and Jobs and the One District, One Factory initiative and appealed for establishment of agro-based factory as farming is mainstay of the people and was confident and hopeful the government would heed call to facelift Chiraa and its environs. -myjoyonline.com
