A 39-Year-Old carpenter, Richard Asamoah, has been remanded in police custody by the Hohoe Circuit Court for unlawful possession of Indian hemp.
Asamoah’s plea was not taken, and he would appear before the court on January 24.
Chief Inspector Charles Aziati, prosecuting, told the court that on January 6, personnel of the Volta North Regional Police Command, in Hohoe, arrested suspect for possessing dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, at Gbefi near Golokwati.
He said Asamoah was arrested in a room upon a tip off, and detained at the Regional Police Headquarters for interrogation.
Chief Insp Aziati told the court presided over by Mr Michael Johnson Abbey that suspect said that he travelled from Accra to Gbefit to attend a friend’s funeral, and Cherobin, now at large, asked him (suspect) to lodged in the room where he was arrested.
The prosecution said the suspect said whilst lodging there, he visited the bathroom to take his bath, but was arrested by the police upon his return to dress up. -GNA
