Must Read

The Central Regional Police Command yesterday held a solemn ceremony in remembrance of police personnel who died in the line of duty.

The event was also to honour and recognise three police personnel who died while performing their duty as police officers.

The late police personnel were Sergeant Hifzullai Aalihu, Commissioner of Police (CoP), Kojo Mahama and Chief Inspector Williams Dogbe.

Three wreaths were laid on behalf of the government and the people of Ghana, the police service and families of the deceased police personnel.

The Cape Coast Metropolitan Chief Executive, Ernest Arthur, Central Regional Police Commander, DCOP Alexander Amenyo and Mrs Fatimatu Issah laid the wreaths on behalf of government, police and families respectively.

In his address, DCOP Alexander Amenyo paid tribute to all police personnel who distinguished themselves in their line of duty.

One of the personnel, he said, was run over by a vehicle at a police check point while on a duty.

The day, he said, was to recognise the sacrifices and dedication of personnel towards their cause in protecting the lives of Ghanaians.

He expressed condolences from the hierarchy of the police administration and all others to the bereaved families.

He further stated the commitment of the police administration to uphold the memory of the personnel during their service.
