An 11-year-old boy has allegedly committed suicide at Atonsu Bokro, in the Asokwa Municipality of Ashanti.
The boy, identified as Okyere Boateng, was said to be a class four pupil of the Dompoase M/A Primary School.
Assembly Member for Bokro Electoral Area, Owusu Brempong, confirmed the incident, saying the grandmother of the boy asked him to accompany her to the market, but he (boy) declined.
Mr Brempong said the grandmother left him at home for the market only to return home to find his body hang on a ceiling fan.
The Asokwa Police have arrested two sons of the grandmother to assist in investigations.
In another development, a chain saw operator, Kwame Kaya, has been shot dead at Numreso, in the Amansie Central District of the Ashanti.
According to an eye witness, Kwame Darkwah, Kaya was hired by the community elders to cut logs for the construction of a public toilet.
But the concession in which Kaya was to cut the logs belong to a businessman, and some youth attacked him in the forest.
A scuffle ensued between Kaya and the youth, and he (Kaya) was shot and he died instantly.
The body has been conveyed by the Manso Nkwanta District Police to the Saint Martin’s Hospital at Agroyesum.
