Black Stars players faced a stern reprimand from head coach Chris Hughton and Ghana Football Association President Kurt Okraku after their devastating 4-0 loss to the United States on Tuesday night.
This chastisement took place before Chris Hughton and Jordan Ayew emerged for post-match interviews, as shared by journalist Fentuo Tahiru Fentuo on Twitter.
Hughton’s prolonged absence from the press conference, according to Fentuo, was due to his involvement in the players’ dressing room where a stern reprimand session was taking place.
“I’ve never waited this long for an away team post-match press conference. Hughton has yet to show up here. Apparently, he’s in the dressing room with Kurt Okraku giving the players a dress down,” Fentuo tweeted, he added, “He should finish and come for his own at the presser!”
The United States handed Ghana a resounding defeat in an international friendly match played in Nashville. The Black Stars endured a challenging first half, conceding four goals to the Americans.
Giovanni Reyna opened the scoring in the 10th minute, followed by Christian Pulisic’s penalty, Florian Balogun’s strike, and another goal from Reyna just before half-time. The game was another setback for the Black Stars, who had previously lost 2-0 to Mexico.
