The Head Coach of the Black Queens, Nora Hauptle, has disclosed that there is more work to be done for the team to reach the apex.
The Black Queens on Tuesday rounded up a 12-0- aggregate demolition of the She-Amavubi of Rwanda in the first round qualifiers for the 2024 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) tournament at the Accra Sports Stadium with a 5-0 win.
This follows a 7-0 away victory in Rwanda a week ago.
This, coach Hauptle believes, was a satisfying progress for her side.
Speaking after the game, she noted that although she was satisfied with the victory over the Rwandans as well as the general performance of the team, there was still room for improvement.
“This team is a ‘work in progress’ team; one which has not yet reach its full potential.”
She said very often, she was faced with the question of how many goals her side would score in a game but for her, that was not the focus.
“The focus for me is more on the performance, because if the performance goes well it will end up with a good result as well.”
“I am pleased with the win; advancing to the second round, but there’s still work to be done.”
For the Swiss, although the team was yet to reach its fullest potential, it was among the top five or 10 teams on the continent.
She expressed confidence about the team’s qualification for the 2024 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) and the 2024 Paris Olympics Games as well.
