The police have arrested a 25-year-old suspect, Richard Narh, for stealing items after breaking into the victim’s home at Oyibi, a suburb of Accra, last Sunday.
Karima Seidu, a 45-year-old Nigerian,was also apprehended for purchasing stolen goods from Narh.
The Accra Regional Police Command Public Relations Officer (PRO), Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Juliana Obeng,who disclosed the arrest to the Ghanaian Times, in Accra, yesterday said, the two suspects were in the custody of the police assisting in investigations.
She said last Sunday at about 3:30pm,Narh broke into the residence of his victim by chiselling the fence wall around the house.
DSP Obeng said Narh broke into the house, opened the kitchen burglar proof window, gained access to the main building and stole two mobiles phone, a‘tablet’mobile device, and other valuables.
She said luck eluded Narh and he was apprehended in the process of bolting with the booty by the police patrol team who received information about the burglary
DSP Obeng when Narh was arrested he mentioned Seidu as the one who purchased the stolen items from him anytime he succeeded in his expedition.
He said police investigation indicated that Narh had broken into other homes and stolen items in the area.
“Suspect has been caught on surveillance camera on several occasion in such act,” DSP Obeng said.
She appealed to the public who had fallen victim to ‘home break-in” to report to the police to assist in investigations.
DSP Obeng said the two suspects would be put before court for prosecution as soon as investigations were concluded.
