THIRTY-SEVEN West African nationals from Togo, La Cote d’Ivoire and Mali, who were rounded up in Ho, Thursday, after entering the country through unapproved routes, have been repatriated.
The Deputy Commissioner of Immigration (DCI) Claver Nantuo, Volta Regional Commander of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), disclosed this to the Ghanaian Times in Ho on Tuesday.
He said that the illegal immigrants, between the ages of 20 and 30, took sanctuary in house at Ho Area 52, where they engaged in cyber fraud to earn a living.
DCI Nantuo said the illegal migrants, who had been living in Ho for weeks, were grabbed by GIS personnel, following a tip-off.
According to him, the offenders used one big obsolete computer screen and old laptop computers for their fraudulent activities.
The Regional GIS Commander said that the illegal migrants, including seven Togolese women, were driven to the exit point at Aflao, in the Volta region, and escorted out of the country.
He reminded the public that Ghana’s frontiers were still shut, and the GIS would not look on unconcerned for recalcitrant people to enter the country and engage in criminal activities.
