The Omanhene of Akomadan, Nana Boakye Akuamoah Boateng II, has lauded Vice President and NPP Presidential Candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, for his compassion and generosity towards the less privileged in society.

During Dr. Bawumia’s campaign engagement in Akomadan, Offinso North Constituency, the Omanhene shared an emotional account of the Vice President’s act of kindness that, he said, brought him to tears.

The traditional leader recalled how Dr. Bawumia, moved by a documentary highlighting the dire living conditions of an 82-year-old abandoned leper in Motori, a village near Wa in the Upper West Region, built a new house for her.

“I shed tears when Dr. Bawumia went to the rescue of a poor woman,” Nana Akuamoah Boateng said. “This woman was living in a dilapidated mud house with her granddaughter, but Bawumia saw her plight and built a house for her. I said to him, ‘What kind of a man are you?’”

Reflecting on Dr. Bawumia’s actions, the Omanhene said it was rare to find a leader with such compassion and commitment to the welfare of the poor.

“Dr., you’re kind. You are a kind and compassionate man who ought to lead this country,” he stated, noting that Bawumia’s kindness extends beyond this single act.

Nana Akuamoah Boateng also praised Dr. Bawumia for his consistent support of lepers and other vulnerable groups, mentioning his habit of celebrating his birthday with lepers, sharing meals and spending time with them.

“This is not only what I have observed about him…It is very rare to find such kind people,” he remarked.

Beyond his compassion, the Offinsohene commended Dr. Bawumia’s intellect and vision for Ghana. “Not only this, he is knowledgeable, he is visionary, he is kind, and also compassionate,” the Omanhene said, expressing hope that such qualities would inspire confidence in Dr. Bawumia as a national leader.

Dr. Bawumia’s engagement in the Offinso North Constituency is part of his broader campaign to connect with communities and share his vision for empowering Ghanaians, particularly the underserved and marginalised.
