Madam Beatrice Nii, Nkwanta South Municipal Girl Child Coordinator has urged parents to prioritise the wellbeing of their girl child.
She said investing in the girl child would create the needed opportunity for them to explore their potential to the fullest.
Madam Nii was speaking at a programme to mark this year’s International Day of the Girl Child on the theme “Investing in Girls Rights: Our leadership, Our Wellbeing.”
She said one major problem affecting the Municipality was the high rate of teenage pregnancy among young girls and appealed to all stakeholders to come on board to address the issues.
The coordinator said parental negligent peer pressure, love for material things were some challenges girls continued to face and this was negatively affecting their lives.
She advised parents to have time for their children and invest in their education.
