The Circuit Court at Ofaakor has remanded a 31-year-old labourer into prison custody for allegedly stealing 12 gold rings valued at GH120, 000 belonging to the pastor of the church he attends.
The accused, Danladi Abass, pleaded not guilty to the charge of stealing when he appeared before the court presided over by Mr. Ebenezer Osei Darko.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Charles Annobil, said the complainant, Rev. Kelvin Bour, a pastor of the Seventh Day Good News Ambassadors Church, and Abass were both residents of Everlip in Kasoa, in the Central Region.
The court heard that about a year ago, Abass, told complainant that, he (Abass) had dreamt about someone gifting him gold and was directed to deal in gold business.
Chief Insp. Annobil said the pastor cautioned Abass against engaging in the gold business, because it characterised by fraudsters.
Prosecution said the pastor, during a conversation with accused, went to his (pastor) room and brought 12 gold rings valued at GH¢120,000 to demonstrate to accused the quality of real gold.
After the meeting, Chief Insp. Annobil said Abass, secretly went and stole all the 12 gold rings from the pastor’s room and sold them at Adabraka.
