The ceremony was jointly performed by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Trobu constituency, Moses Anim, and the Ga North Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr Simons Sekyim.

The Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) was funding the school project at the cost of GH₵ 350, 000 and would be completed in four months by Messrs Brain Eko Company Limited, the contractor.

Mr Anim, speaking with Ghanaian Times, said that he lobbied for the project from GETFund to support Abensu Basic School, saying that the GETFund listened to his plea and released the money for the project.

He further added that the Assembly had been able to put up a three classroom block which was a single story building, therefore, it was his bid to add to the expansion of the facility.

The MCE, for his part, said the Assembly was constructing the foot bridge to link Abensu Agric Headquarters, Wodomeabra and Teacher Kope communities for the pupils to get easy access to school.

The Assembly Member for Abensu, Mr Nuhu Mohamed, thanked the participants and the support for Abensu Basic School and the community, and pleaded with the Assembly to build another senior high school to support the only one in the municipality.
