A new corruption league table is set to be published by the end of the year to document corruption and name and shame culprits.

In furtherance of this, it will serve as a deterrent to peddlers of corruption and reduce the menace which has become a bane for the country.

Besides, state institutions will be ranked according to their level and type of corruption with the most corruptible name, shamed, those involved prosecuted and the institution surcharged.

The league table will form part of efforts by the Office of the Special Prosecutor to identify the causes that advance corruption and corruption practices in the public sector to facilitate the prevention of corruption.

Launching the corruption league table, Kissi Adjebeng, the Special Prosecutor, warned that his office was committed, dedicated and determined to crack down on corruption through prosecutions and asset recoveries and that the new corruption league table set to be published later in the year is expected to enable the Office of the Special Prosecutor to document corruption and name and shame peddlers.

He revealed that state institutions would be ranked with the most corrupt named since it recognised various corruption rankings, scorings and surveys being carried out however, it comes down to the nature of the information gathered and the use to which such information is put.

“Though we recognise various corruption institutions both local and foreign through their rankings, scorings and surveys we will depend on the nature of information gathered and the use to which such information is put to avoid disinformation and misinformation.

“We will be documenting corruption, measuring corruption, ascertaining the breeding of corruption, naming and shaming peddlers of corruption, examining the impact of anti-corruption initiatives and taking curative and remedial measures to crack down on corruption through prosecutions and asset recovery and management,” Mr Adjebeng reiterated.

He pointed out that it was time to move beyond the composite annual ranking of countries on a corruption drop list to own local narrative and fashion and retool reformation by prodding public sector into real and concrete action against corruption and corrupt practices.

Alfred Tuah Yeboah, Deputy Attorney General and Minister of Justice, stated that his office would continue to work with the Office of the Special Prosecutor to fight corruption and corruption practices.
