The Right Reverend Prosper Samuel Dzomeku, Moderator of the Global Evangelical Church (GEC) has appealed to Christians to be wary of charlatans who for want of money and personal gains have reduced and replaced the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the sale of mantles.
“Some so called Pastors and Evangelists because of their stomach, sell anointing oil, holy water and handkerchiefs among others to their unsuspecting followers as if such articles carried the power of God. My beloved sisters and brothers in the Lord, we are all children of God. If we pray according to God’s word,he will answer us. As for those charlatans, they are doing it for money and for their personal gains only”, he said.
The Moderator said these when he preached the sermon at the GEC Victory Chapel, Tarkwa in the Western Region.
The Rt. Rev. Dzomeku explained that, the mantles have no power in them without the Word of God. “The anointing oil is just like any other edible oil that you can use to cook and eat. It is God’s word that makes the difference, he said.
Rev. Michael Akiti, the Takoradi Presbytery Chairman, on behalf of his executive and the entire Presbytery expressed gratitude to the Moderator for being among the first to be visited less than two months into his tenure of office. He reiterated the Moderator’s call for members to be Scripture dependent instead of mantles.
He also called on those who used to put their trust in such articles to repent as a matter of urgency.
Rev. Vincent Kofi Amegadzie, the Tarkwa District Pastor briefed the Moderator on some developmental projects that were ongoing in the district. He led the Moderator and his entourage to tour the new pastor’s manse which was nearing completion and also to pray for the Sunday School Children.
