Failure is one of the most feared outcomes by people. However, it is an inescapable part of life. Unless you live a life of never doing anything, stuck in one place, you are bound to experience failure in one form or another. According to Phillip Kramer, failure is not the problem; people should be more afraid of doing nothing.
Phillip Kramer is a successful entrepreneur who took the plunge from the corporate world and pursued his passion. Despite several setbacks and dead ends, Kramer turned his life around and achieved the success he was reaching for. He encourages people to stop viewing failure as a complete defeat and instead learn lessons from their failures to rise every time they fall. Kramer shares three significant lessons he has learned from failing during his extraordinary journey:
1. Get back up every time you fall
The problem is not that you fail; it is that you accept to stay vanquished. Kramer explains that everyone will fail at something, but the difference between successful people and the rest is that the former keep moving forward. “You should never stop trying, and you should never stop moving forward,” quips Kramer.
2. Failure is an opportunity in disguise
There are many lessons to be learned from failure, and in some cases, opportunities present themselves. Kramer explains that failing helped him shift his mindset and become more open to exploring possible options from a failure. “There is always something to learn from a setback or a dead end,” says Phillip Kramer. He also adds that it is your chance to learn ways of doing something better when you fail.
3. Believe in your capabilities
Most people take failure to be a reflection of their capabilities which is far from true. “Failing at something does not mean you can’t do it; it just means that you need to use a different approach to achieve the result you want,” believes Kramer. He explains that this is especially important to understand if you are just starting as an entrepreneur. Failure does not define who you are; you should not let it.
Phillip Kramer concludes that when you let your passion guide you and befriend setbacks, there is nothing you cannot achieve.
