A cinematic release which will have us wistfully longing for simpler times is Bill and Ted Face the Music

Action, adventure, comedy and drama will all be on the bill when the major multiplexes reopen in August.

And blockbusters delayed because of Covid-19 – such as the new Bond film, No Time to Die – will finally be shown.

Some art-house cinemas are already reopening but generally, film fans have had to turn to on-demand streaming platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime and new kids on the block like Disney+ for something new.

However, as lockdown rules ease, it is time to fire up the popcorn machine and start booking seats. Plenty of familiar faces are set to return, such as Tom Cruise in the Top Gun sequel and Wonder Woman, Gal Gadot.

But she will also be ditching her super powers for a part in Agatha Christie whodunnit, Death on the Nile.

If you’re after Hollywood escapism, check out these new releases;

  • Top Gun: Maverick – December 23
  • No Time to Die – November 12
  • Black Widow – October 28
  • Death on the Nile – October 9
  • Six Minutes to Midnight – September 25
  • A Quiet Place Pt II – September 4
  • Bill and Ted Face the Music – August 28
  • The New Mutants – August 28
