Accra Hearts of Oak returned to winning ways with a narrow 1-0 victory over visiting Kumasi King Faisal at the Accra Sports Stadium, yesterday.
Striker KwadwoObeng Jnr’s strike on the 24th minute gave the Phobians the needed points to put the spark into their title defence.
Hearts’ win condemned King Faisal to their fourth straight defeat, a feat the technical team have attributed to the lack of squad depth.
Hearts enjoyed a lion’s share of the possession and could have recorded a cricket score if the likes of Obeng Jnr, Salim Adams and Kofi Kordzi had been more purposeful in front of goal.
Faisal’s decent chance came on the 58th minute but MawuliWayo blasted over the bar a fine opportunity for the equaliser while Ibrahim Zubariu fluffed yet another fine chance to equalise minutes later.
Hearts will next battle city rivals, Accra Great Olympics at the Accra Sports Stadium in a game dubbed the Ga-Mantse derby.
