Four alleged land guards, yesterday appeared before an Accra Circuit court for threatening to kill the  head of the Nii Arde Akpa Royal  Family, Daniel Nii Tagoe, at Kokrobite in the Ga South municipality of the Greater Accra Region.

Ahene Emmanuel, Nii Kwei Laryea, Samuel Ohene Otchie and Noah Acquah were also charged with causing unlawful damage to the properties of Mr Tagoe.

Eight others, who have been accused of the same offence, are currently at large.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges , have been remanded, and would reappear before court presided over by Emmanuel Essandoh, on March 21.

The prosecutor, Chief Inspector Eric Pobee, presenting facts to the court, stated that on January 6, 2022, an announcement was made at the Kokrobite Community Centre that Mr Tagoe would address the community on a ruling of the Accra High Court, dated December 20, 2022.

Chief Insp Pobee said that while preparing the centre to host residents of Kokrobite, Emmanuel, organised and led a group of land guards, including Nii Kwei, Ohene, Noah and six others, who are at large, to the center.

The accused wielding pump action guns and other offensive weapons verbally threatened to kill Mr Tagoe if he stepped foot at the place.

Chief Insp Pobee said the accused posted a video footage currently circulating on various social media platforms to prove their intention to kill Mr Tagoe.

He said the accused damaged the canopies, chairs, tables and ‘spinning’ machines at the event center and indiscriminately fired gun shots and the crowd dispersed.

“On January 10, 2022, the complainant filed a complaint at the regional Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Accra, leading to the arrest of the four accused persons before the court,” he said.

Chief Insp Pobee said Emmanuel during investigation admitted the offense and named Nii Offei, who is also at large, as the one who ordered them to stop the event.
