2 appointed Deputy CEOs of GEXIM Bank

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has appointed a seasoned Development Finance Expert, Nana Akyaa Obeng-Adiyiah as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in charge of Finance and Administration for the Ghana Export-Import (GEXIM) Bank.

Ms Obeng-Adiyiah was appointed as Deputy CEO of GEXIM Bank on January 31, 2022 and her appointment is expected to take off tomorrow, February 23, 2022.

Also, the President appointed Rosemary Beryl Archer as the Deputy Chief Executive in charge of Banking/Business.

Until her appointment, Ms Archer was the Head of Small and Medium-Enterprises (SMEs) at the bank.

The appointment was contained in a letter issued in Accra yesterday by the GEXIM Bank, signed by the Chief of Staff, Mrs Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, and copied to the Ghanaian Times.

The statement said the appointment was in line with Act 911 of the 2016 GEXIM Bank Act.

“Nana Obeng-Adiyiah has over 15 years multi-sectorial corporate experience, of which 10 years has been in senior management positions in multinational banking and the petroleum sector,” the statement said.

It said Nana Obeng-Adiyiah started her banking career at Guaranty Trust Bank with the Consumer Banking Department.

“With diversified experience and career excellence, and her quest to climb the corporate ladder, Nana Akyaa joined Absa Bank (formerly Barclays Bank Ghana Ltd.) and within a decade, rose through the ranks to become Assistant Vice President in the Transactional Banking Department of the bank,” it added.

Nana Obeng-Adiyiah, the statement said had an immense wealth of expertise as she successfully handled various portfolios within the Public Sector and Business Banking units, managing clients across various sectors of the economy including oil and gas, agriculture, manufacturing, and multinational clients.

“In 2017, as part of her multi-sectoral career development, she moved to the National Petroleum Authority as the Head of Business Development. In this role, she marketed Ghana as the downstream petroleum investment destination in Africa by identifying investment opportunities, building new project scopes, and pitching to potential investors around the globe,” it added.

She holds a Master of Science degree in Development Finance from the University of Ghana Business School and also holds a Bachelor’s degree in English and Law from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

The statement said Ms Archer had over 20 years of experience in banking.

“Within the 16 years of her banking experience, she has assumed various roles including ones at Corporate and Institutional Banking, Retail, SME, Business Development, Treasury, Credit and Recoveries, Export development from within several local banks including the Universal Merchant Bank , Access Bank ( formerly Intercontinental Bank), and Fidelity Bank,” the statement added.
